USCIS Medical Exam
At Manhattan Medical Arts

Any individual looking for citizenship and immigration services to acquire a permanent residency in the United States of America is mandated by the government to complete the USCIS Medical Exam.

This immigration medical examination ensures that green card applicants are free of all communicable diseases like syphilis, gonorrhea, and tuberculosis – while also being updated on all vaccination requirements, to minimize the spread of diseases.

The USCIS Medical Exam or the form I-693 (Report of medical examination and vaccination) required for the I-485 form, is a way to keep all the green card applicants and those around them, safe and disease-free.

The government requires USCIS’s designated civil surgeons to perform the immigration medical examination. We at Manhattan Medical Arts have civil surgeons who are licensed to perform immigration exams and provide green card applicants with a detailed report.

What Is The USCIS Immigration Medical Examination?

USCIS immigration medical examination is just like any other medical evaluation, but in addition, it also tests the applicants for certain officially specified medical conditions and diseases.

The designated civil surgeons perform the immigration medical examination, evaluate organ systems, and also perform blood tests to check for communicable as well as sexually transmitted diseases.

USCIS doctors also ensure that green card applicants are fully vaccinated under the guidelines provided by CDC.

Vaccination Requirements For Green Card Applicants

The CDC has given clear vaccination requirements for adult green card applicants. They need to be vaccinated against:

  • Measles, mumps, rubella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
  • Seasonal influenza

All immunizations are required, but if an individual has a certain medical condition or a contraindication to green card medical examination and vaccination – in that case, it should be properly documented and shared with the designated civil surgeon.

Is a COVID-19 Shot Required For Immigration Purposes?

Starting in October 2021, the government has mandated that individuals seeking permanent residence in the United States must have completed the age-appropriate COVID-19 vaccines for a green card.

They should provide documentation proving the completion of the vaccine series to the civil surgeon conducting the USCIS medical exam. However, certain situations must be taken into account. Individuals may get a vaccination waiver if there is a serious contraindication that prevents the individual from getting vaccinated, and that contraindication must be documented by the designated civil surgeon.

Religious and moral waivers are also taken into account in the event of not getting immunized due to those specific reasons and require documentation too.

How Much Does The USCIS Medical Exam Cost?

The USCIS Medical Exam costs $450 and our primary care physician Dr. Syra Hanif will issue a health certificate that you can submit online to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services portal.

A psychiatrist PT Test is also required in some cases, but only if the USCIS asks you to. Psychiatrist’s PT Test will cost you $350.
